The restoration of Rogue (1892)
Rogue is a triple-skin kauri hulled, flush decked, gaff rigged 32' racing cutter from NZ — Chas Bailey Jr's first design.
Sailmakers’ whipping for 15 reefing nettles (main and stay sails).

Rogue‘s wardrobe now almost is complete with only a #2 jib to come, courtesy of sailmaker Ken Fyfe’s remarkable economy with sailcloth originally ordered for Bruce Askew’s smaller Wellington sailplan.

And the cabin now is free of rigging paraphernalia:

Mike Renner — grandson of R C Renner, who imported Rogue from Auckland to Wellington in 1900 (see October 1900 entries in Rogue’s history) — donated Rogue’s original Inglefield sister clips, here deployed to hoist the Classic Yacht Association pennant preparatory to Rogue’s return to racing on Auckland’s Waitematā Harbour after her 122-year absence (see 30 April 2022 entry in Rogue’s racing).

After a 122-year absence from Auckland’s Waitematā Harbour, Rogue takes her first post-restoration commissioning sail.

After January’s false start, and a subsequent 50 per cent increase in lead ballast, Rogue’s finally back in the water after a 15-year absence, sitting perfectly on her lines, and just awaiting final rigging detail.

And an exceptionally generous and thoughtful relaunch gift:
